Michael enjoys retirement

What does one do after retiring and after serving an LDS Mission? Michael does what he wants, gets up when he wants, and goes to bed when he wants.

Happy New Year - Michael enjoys being with his grandchildren as evident by his participation in the festivities of the new year.

He loves working in the yard and since being a way for 18 months the weeds have attempted to take over the yard.

So the fact that there is still snow on the ground doesn't change his determination to put things back in order.

Michael has spent hours and hours working on family history. So much joy to review the wonderful information that his cousins gave him while he was in Australia. He has notebooks and notebooks.

He discovered that the paper and plastic covers in Australia are bigger than in America. He had to order some special plastic covers from Maine to handle his Australia paperwork.

He has also input the new information into the new.familysearch program which has really added to his family tree. A BIG THANK-YOU again to all of his Australia relatives.

Besides writing his family history information he also works on his taxes and finances. I think he likes to see how frugal and thrifty he has been. That's why we were able to serve a mission.

He has been very compassionate in giving others work - since he just hired a crew to put a new enlarged deck on the back of our home. It is something he has wanted to do since we bought the home 3 years ago.

It will look nice and will be perfect for our daughters wedding this coming fall.

Being with family is tops on his list.

The joy of serving in Australia is families. The joy of being home is families.

"...men are, that they might have joy." (2 Nephi 2:25)

Families are the most important thing in life and bring the greatest joy.
