Family History Church Service Mission Farewell

The end of August we attended the Family History Library B2 (British Zone) Hail and Farewell, recognizing those who have just arrived as missionaries and those that were leaving. They also honor those who have achieved milestones in their training and completed various levels such as "apprentice", England & Wales, Ireland, Scotland, and the finale of formal training - the Journeyman.

We served as mentors to many of the missionaries as they progressed through to their Journeyman and it was exciting to see their accomplishments and then to see them mentor others as well as assisting patrons.


Barbara Baker is a Church Family History Consultant and the Missionaries coordinator. We worked closely with her in updating training manuals and also training to be mentors.
Some of the full time missionaries included:

Sister Brown from England born in Ireland,

Sister Preston was from Brisbane, Australia and she was a great assets in helping Michael discover new Internet sites for Queensland as well as connecting him with people that she knew that knew his relatives.

Elder & Sister Green and Elder & Sister Skinner, were our usual lunch partners and live in Davis County,

Elder Ward & Elder Twitchell (He is famous for his dynamically bright ties).

Elder & Sister Bayless and

Sister Vance live in Kaysville and have served for years on the British Zone.
Our Zone leaders included full time missionaries:




Elder & Sister Bailey, Elder & Sister White, Elder & Sister Gilbert from Australia and Elder & Sister Hunsaker.

Serving for the past 16 months as Church Service Missionaries as been a real delight and we are planning to return after our full time mission. We hope our experience in Scotland and Ireland will be an added plus to our knowledge and skills in British Ancestry Research. We also hope that our work will add to the wealth of knowledge posted on familysearch.org.
